We get the message that we always need to be better and faster, and it’s hard not to get caught up in this whirlwind. Young and old alike have very full agendas, and if we’re not careful, we can run out of steam.\nThis conference should provide some answers to the following questions:\n\nWhat are the foundations of learning?\nWhat can breaks bring during an activity, a day or a year?\nWhat are the different types of attention?\nWhat is the difference between stimulation and over-stimulation?\nWhat is the point of boredom, of “doing nothing”? Is it a waste of time?\n\nKeynote speaker:\nOlivier Gilly is a teacher at the Centre d’Etude et de Recherche pour la Petite Enfance (Aubervilliers / France) and a trainer at the Pikler Lóczy France association.\nHe has worked as an educator with a variety of groups: childminders, nurseries, prevention and child protection. He has worked on setting up a toy library (a play area for children and families).\nVery interested in new teaching methods and active methods, he discovered the Piklerian approach in 1991.\nSince 2000, he has been a trainer for people preparing to work with young children. At the same time, he works as a trainer in the Piklerian approach, specialising in working on play, children’s creative activities and layout of spaces for children.\nHis favourite field is play.  He has:\n–  Taken part in numerous talks and conferences on the topic,\n–  Worked on nursery rhymes and songs,\n–  Contributed to articles for “Les pros de la petite enfance” on topics such as the layout of spaces for children and their carers, free motor skills, creativity, and children’s productions.\nThe Pikler Lóczy Association brings together early childhood professionals from all backgrounds who are interested in the research carried out by Emmi Pikler and her colleagues on young children, their skills and support for their development.\nIn their work with very young children and/or baby carers, in different departments, these professionals find it relevant to use Emmi Pikler’s discoveries and her multiple implications to build the conditions necessary for a baby’s development.\nContact OIB Childcare Services: OIB-CS-GENERAL@ec.europa.eu ( mailto:OIB-CS-GENERAL@ec.europa.eu )\n
